Give Where You Live Miami County reached a milestone of providing $100,000 or more to local nonprofits during its February meeting in Tipp City.

The organization has 113 members who meet quarterly to make a difference and increase philanthropy in the county by committing $100 each to an organization selected by those attending each meeting.

The organization was formed in 2015 following the Giving Circle concept. Each member brings a $100 check to the meeting and, after hearing from representatives of three organizations selected that evening to make a brief presentation, writes the check to the organization that gets the most votes.
Matt Buehrer and Maggie McKee of Tipp City are cochairs of the organization.

Buehrer said $103,000 has been donated to organizations in nine meetings of Give Where You Live Miami County.

“It was really exciting to be part of an organization around for two years and hitting that $100,000 mark in grants since we started,” Buehrer said. “Things are rolling along.”

The most recent recipient was The Clubhouse, an organization through which teens mentor younger children in after school and summer programs.
The Clubhouse office is located at Ginghamsburg’s The Avenue, 6759 S. County Road 25A, Tipp City. It can be contacted at 667-1069 extension 274.
