William “Bill” Bruner, 81, of Troy, passed away 1:45 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton.  He was born in Knox County, Kentucky on September 15, 1932 to the late John and Sara (Brock) Bruner. 

Bill is survived by four sons and daughter-in-law LTC John V. Bruner of Smithfield, VA, Johnnie C. Bruner of Eaton, Steve Bruner of Potsdam, and Mike and Michelle Bruner of Anna; five sisters and brothers-in-law Esther and Bob Taulbee of Avon Park, FL, Jessie and Ronald Mollet of Troy, Nancy Pack of Troy, Carol Morries of Nancy, KY, Mary and Robert Shanahan of Springfield.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny, Jr. Bruner and Walter Bruner; and three sisters, Sudie Wagner, Louise Bruner and Lillie Agee. 

Bill was a member of the West Alexandria Masonic Lodge and Past Squadron Commander of Sons of AMVETS Post 88 in Troy, where he managed the career center and served with the State of Ohio Sons of AMVETS as Past Second Vice Commander and Past National Second Vice Commander.

He was retired from General Motors as an extruder operator following 27 years of service.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service.  Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  Contributions may be made to Sons of Amvets Post 88 in Troy.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.fisher-cheneyfuneralhome.com.
