In following God’s constructed path Lindsay McCaul is deepening the faith of others through the power of song. A gifted Christian recording artist, McCaul’s burgeoning career is a response to how music shaped her relationship with Christ. She is currently on the BranDisa Tour with Brandon Heath and Mandisa, which has a stop at Hobart Arena on Sunday, April 6.

Whenever McCaul felt lost while growing up, such as while suffering from an eating disorder, she found guidance from listening to Christian music. Now like the musicians she used to hear, her own voice is being used as an instrument of God to reach those in need. “It’s interesting to see how God put the desire in my heart to be in music and filled it with opportunities. I wasn’t going to chase something that He didn’t want me to do, but He opened the doors for me,” she said.

McCaul attended the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where she served as a worship leader, crafting a number of original songs. That experienced lead her into the same position at Chicago’s Bible Harvest Church, a 14,000 member church. Her music began to attract attention outside of the church, as people like producer Jason Ingram took notice. Ingram approached her with a surprising offer, “He said, ‘I know you like writing songs. How about using them to help share Christ with others?’ God opened the door and the rest is history.”

Her debut album, “It Leads Me Back,” features a balled titled “Let Go,” which was inspired by her personal struggles with anorexia and bulimia. The songs message is about how self control needs to be turned over to God. Through her eating disorders McCaul was trying to be in control rather than have God guide her. “God allowed me to go through it to bring me closer to Him. And now I’m able to encourage others that God is big enough to fill them,” she said.

McCaul has toured the country with acts such as Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin and Sanctus Real. She’s pleased to now be traveling with Brandon Heath and Mandisa. Heath has won multiple GMA Dove and Grammy Awardsfor hits such as “Give Me Your Eyes” and “Your Love.” A season five contestant on “American Idol,” Mandisa finished in ninth place but has become a winner in the world of Christian music. Her album “Overcomer” won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music album in 2014.

The career journey has eternally blessed McCaul who can relate to the positive effects music can have on a life. More than album her ticket sales, her main priority is touching lives with the warmth of Christ’s love. “I’m thrilled to be doing this. God used Christian music so much in my life that I’m grateful to even be a small part of it. I love seeing the impact that God is having on others,” said McCaul.
