Meaghan Fisher’s calendar is getting pretty full – both close to home and on the road.

The Troy-based author and owner of Gypsy Publications isn’t complaining.

Instead, she’s enthusiastically preparing for events and other writing- and promotion- related projects this year and beyond.

A sampling of calendar dates would include: featured author for Dayton Metro Library Local Author and Artists’ Event, May 17; Sinclair’s Dayton Book Expo, May 3; featured writer for Tipp City’s Arts and Artisan Show in June; a featured author at Savannah, Ga., Children’s Book Festival in November; and celebrity author for the Imaginarium, a creative writing convention in Louisville, Ky., in September.

She’s also planning a New York City book tour this summer; is working on a toddler book, “If I Could Pull the Moon from the Sky;” and is working on children’s books for the Troy Strawberry Festival, to come out in 2015 and 2016.

Into next year, she’s already committed for events such as an April 2015 kids day at the Mazza Museum of International Art from Picture Books at the University of Findlay.

“I have always loved writing since I was in sixth grade,” Fisher said. She dedicated her first two children’s books to her sixth grade teacher, Linda Gallagher.

“If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be here,” she said.

Fisher and husband, Tim, started Gypsy Publications in 2007, opening its doors to other authors five years ago.

Tim Fisher, a financial data analyst, handles book design and covers, works with printers, is in charge of the website and handles finances, among other tasks. He is, Meaghan Fisher said, “the behind the scenes guy.”

“It boomed overnight,” she said of the business. “I know God is on our side. God put us here on Earth to help each other. We get paid very little for what we do. We just do it to help their dream come true.”

Her business philosophy mirrors her life philosophy of taking a positive approach, Fisher said. “I am all about being positive and looking toward the future,” she said.

Fisher’s children’s books  – she published her first in 2009 and the sixth came out recently – all are centered on a message.

“All of the books have traditional moral lessons with a comical feel for children,” she said. She also strives to have the books Ohio-based.

One work, “Lars the Monkey Flies a WACO Airplane” is based closed to home at the WACO Museum in Troy. The most recent, “Tyler the Fish Saves Lake Erie” features a bass fish working with fish friends to save the lake.

While her books so far have been published through Gypsy Publications, the newest work, “If I Could Pull the Moon from the Sky,” will come from North Star Press.

Although she lives in Troy, Fisher said much of her life has also been in Tipp City.

The Fishers have two children, Emma Rose and Kevin.
