Troy Community Works! is pleased to announce Barbara Martin as our new Executive Director. Barbara has been a volunteer for TCW for the past year and a board member before stepping into the Executive Director role. TCW has been without an executive director for the past 18 months as the organization has focused on completion of newly remodeled East Gate Building. Barbara has been a long-time resident of Troy and is known for her involvement in many community activities. She comes to TCW with a background in business and marketing. “Barbara is a great fit for TCW,” says Martha Harris, former Executive Director and current Board President, “Her passion for Troy just shines through and she exemplifies TCW mission.” Former Board Member Don Willis agrees. “Barbara’s professional background and personal energy would help any non-profit and we are grateful to have her with TCW.”
In her new role Barbara has many goals for TCW. First up is to build on the completion of the East Gate Building and work with TCW’s new tenants. Other goals include establishing a housing rehabilitation plan for TCW, pursuing a state of Ohio Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) certification for TCW, and continuing TCW’s efforts with Make A Difference Day.
Barbara has lived in Troy’s Southwest Historic District for the past ten years and loves the walkability and many amenities the city has to offer. She also recently joined the Troy, Ohio Rotary Club and remains active along with her three children in numerous clubs and activities in local organizations such as Troy Schools and the Lincoln Center.
Troy Community Works! is a non-profit community development corporation formed to enhance the long-term well-being and livability of the city of Troy through a collaborative approach to sustainable community development. TCW accomplishes this mission through our three pillars of community development: Strengthening the downtown housing and commercial building stock, neighborhood revitalization, and grassroots education and engagement.
