The Easter Bunny was working overtime during the March 26th Easter Egg Hunt at Lincoln Community Center, 110 Ash Street in Troy. The staff at the center, together with volunteers from Troy Rotary Club, helped an estimated 250 children, ages 2-12, look for candy, toys and eggs scattered strategically throughout the property. Prizes were awarded to the top treasure hunters in the 2-7 age group and 8-12 age group. Shane Carter, executive director of the center, said the event has grown every year and this was the largest group they’ve hosted to date.

This is one of many programs offered to area children through the partnership between Lincoln Community Center and Troy Rotary. In the past year, Rotarians and the Troy Rotary Foundation have supported the center’s Back to School Bash with notebooks, pens, glue and other supplies the children needed to be ready to learn on the first day of the new academic year. In addition, Rotary was a proud sponsor of the center’s annual Thanksgiving meal in November, where a full feast was offered to anyone who stopped by to share fellowship with friends and area residents. Lincoln Community Center and Troy Rotary Club continue to find ways to help provide area families with safe activities and support educational goals. Troy Rotarians, and the Troy Rotary Foundation, support several community projects annually. In 2014-15, more than $16,000 in scholarships and community aid was distributed from the fund, including the annual Shoe Project, Troy After Prom, scholarships, and sponsorships to summer camps at Brukner Nature Center and Waco Air Museum.
