Primary EyeCare Associates as well as Dr. Scott Schwartz and Dr. Lindsey King are proud to announce they have relocated their optometric practice to 10 DotCom Drive in Troy (next to Culver’s). According to Dr. Schwartz, the new location will offer a larger frame selection, new medical equipment and more professional services that were not available at the old location of 93 Robinhood Lane. Services that the practice provide include treatment for glaucoma, managing diabetes, macular degeneration, and cataracts, fitting of contact lenses including astigmatism and bifocal contact lenses as well as specialty contact lens fittings for keratoconus and other corneal irregularities. One of the more exciting pieces of equipment that the practice invested in was the Optomap retinal camara that captures 150 to 180 degrees of the retina. “This technology really provides a much more thorough examination of the back of the eye without having to dilate the pupil. We no longer miss lesions in the back of the eye that may be missed with just a “routine” exam. According to the company, this technology really sets us apart because no other practice in Miami County offers this technology to its patients,” says Dr. Schwartz. In addition, Primary EyeCare will be doing an automated visual field screener and an automated autorefractor (which gives the doctor an accurate prescription for the patient) on every patient that comes in for an exam.

In addition to these exciting changes in the clinic area, Primary EyeCare will be starting a vision therapy program in the near future. “We have had a vision therapy program in our Sidney office for 25 to 30 years and we have helped many young patients with their vision. Vision therapy focuses mostly on students who are having difficulty with reading, eye tracking, letter reversals, eye coordination and focusing. We all know that when we read we obviously have to be able to see what we are reading but just as important, we have to track our eyes accurately so we don’t skip words or lines. We have to maintain focus on the reading material and we have to comprehend what we are reading. This program concentrates on these areas to help the child perform better in school. Many parents are unaware there is such a program out there that can help their child if he/she is struggling in these areas. We hope to have this program up and running sometime this summer or early fall,” explains Dr. Schwartz.

Primary EyeCare Associates will be hosting a ribbon cutting and a public open house on June 21^st from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Their hours of operation are Monday 12:00 – 5:30, Tuesday 10:00 – 7:00, Wednesday 10:00 – 5:00, Thursday 10:00 – 7:00, Friday 7:30 – 4:30, and every other Saturday 8:00 – 12:00. They welcome new patients and accept most insurance plans.
