Lester Miller, Jr., 90, of West LaFayette, IN and formerly of Troy, passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at Cumberland Pointe in West LaFayette, IN. He was born in Urbana on May 16, 1923 to the late Lester and Katie Rhodessa (Walters) Miller, Sr. He was married to Lucy Carolyn Rodgers, and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2010.

Lester is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Vincent and Bonnie Miller of Huber Heights, Craig, PhD., and Sue Miller, RN, of West LaFayette, IN; one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne, DVM, and Kenneth, DVM, Kobalka of Laurinburg, NC; five grandchildren, Angela (Rickie) Vance, Sara Miller, Erika Miller, Katelyn Miller, and Roman Miller; two great-granddaughters, Carissa and Kaylee Vance; and one sister-in-law, Jeannette L. Miller of St. Paris. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald R. Miller and his wife, Beulah S. Miller; one sister, Virginia Heck and her husband Bob Heck; and recently his other brother, Robert W. Miller.

He was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Troy. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Mt. Olivet #226 Free and Accepted Masons of Christiansburg; and a former member of Troy Historical Society, Troy Museum of History, and Troy Senior Citizens. He worked as a plumber-steamfitter for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base after 33 years of service and later was the owner of the former Miller Plumbing Co., Troy.

A memorial service will be held on 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Dr. Richard Culp officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy with a Military Graveside Service by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.
