Several area high school basketball players will take the court this week as part of the 37th annual District 9 Basketball Coaches Association senior all-star games, all held at Troy High School. The girls’ games are set for Thursday evening at 6:30 and 8, while the boys play at the same times on Friday.
The teams are comprised of seniors picked by the coaches of District 9, and all proceeds from this game will go to the Dayton Children’s Medical Center. Admission for the game is $6 which includes a game program.
Each member of the game will be receiving s plaque and t-shirt, which highlights each of the seniors.
The first game Thursday night will be the Division 1-2-3 game, pitting the North squad, coached by Gary Falkenbach of Greenon and Preston Elifritz of Miami East against the South team, who will be coached by Greeneview’s Gregg Hains and Brian Hogan of Bellefontaine.
Highlighting the North squad will be several area players, including Mallory Rice from Tecumseh, Kelsey Crooks of Northwestern, and the Greenon duo of Lianne Masquelier and Jenn Miller.
Also on the roster are Stefanie Davis from Kenton Ridge, Katie Heckman from Versailles, Lindsey Black from Graham, Ashley and Trina Current from Miami East, Abbey O’Donnell from Arcanum, Sara Thornton from Kenton Ridge and Emily Harman from Versailles.
The South team is led by Division 3 Player of the Year Ashton Lovely from Greeneview, along with Jasmine Haley from Bellefontaine, Shaeyla Givens from Northmont, Maddie Yount and Tasha Potts from Piqua, Holly Parker from Ben Logan, Haley Boberg from Indian Lake, Kaitlyn Gregory from Shawnee, Haleigh Luce and Karlee Lennen from Greenville, Alex Rice from Greeneview and Allison Knief from Indian Lake.
In the Division Four game at 8, the North squad is led by Darian Rose and Renae Meyer from Fort Loramie, Monique Booher and Heidi Cox from Houston, Michaela Kramer and Andrea Goettemoeller from Botkins, Julia Harrison and Madeline Franklin of Lehman, Maggie Harris from Russia and Catey Fisher of Ansonia. They are coached by Tim Hatcher from Russia.
On the South side, they have Libby Huffman and Kayla Samples from Mechanicsburg, Juliana Erwin or Southeastern, Krystal Falknor and Lexie Bruner of Tri Village, Brooke Dunlavy and Haley Patty of Bradford, Jamie Huston of Cedarville, and the Troy Christian duo of Morgan Haddad and Lydia Demmitt. The coaches are Patrick McKee of Bradford and Craig Maschino of Covington.
Friday evening, they do it all again with the senior boys, and again several area players will be playing. In the 6:30 game, the Division 1-2-3 South team is led by Tipp City’s Ben Stucke and Sean Ford, along with the Tecumseh duo of Dalton Davis and Josiah McFarland. Joining them are Jalen Nelson of Shawnee, Dillon Kneuven and Alex Niswonger of Urbana, AJ Gorham of Bellefontaine, Jalen Paige of Butler, Christian Grider of Indian Lake, Clayton Kadel of Xenia and Dalton Caudill of Greeneview. They will be coached by Jeremy Dixon of Urbana and Chris McGuire of Shawnee.
Also in the 8 p.m. Division Four boys game on Friday, both Patrick Bain and Christian Pfledderer from Bethel will be participating.
